Never Stop Building - Crafting Wood with Japanese Techniques
Crafting Wood with Japanese Techniques

Kyoto on the Mississippi

Bringing a contemporary atmosphere of Japan to the small town of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. A suite of coordinating designs bring rich Douglas Fir and smooth, hand planed Port Orford Cedar throughout the open, sunlit apartment. Major project elements include a traditional Japanese room with tokonoma, shoji and fusuma doors, a grand entry cabinet with waterfall slab, a cooking island with massive live edge dining table, a matching desk with tansu style storage cabinets, and a collection of frame and panel wall cabinets.

All pieces are constructed using traditional frame and panel construction and mortise and tenon joinery. High touch surfaces are finished with a natural oil blend and all cedar is finished with the plane.
